A Property Sale transaction normally starts with the signing of a Deed of Sale and instructing the conveyancing attorney, who is responsible for giving effect to the contract. The conveyancing attorney manages the conveyancing process and his primary function is to transfer ownership of the property in terms of the Deed of Sale timeously and to keep the parties informed.

A Bond Registration normally starts with a Bond Application at a bank or bond originator and an instruction by the bank to the conveyancer to register the bond. The conveyancer who registers the bond does not necessarily have to be the same person as the conveyancer who transfers ownership of a property in terms of a specific Deed of Sale. The primary task of the conveyancer who registers the bond is to ensure that the bank's security is in place before the bank pays out the bond amount in favour of the client towards a purchase price or a loan.
